Overview

The department seeks to meet the needs of the labor market in the fields of translation, economics, investment, tourism, media, and other fields that require Chinese speakers in Egypt and the Arab world. The Department of Chinese Language and Literature offers a complete picture of China, its civilization, culture, language, and literature through a group of distinguished staff members from Egypt and China. It also participates in various competitions that the Chinese side organizes for Chinese scholars in the Arab Republic of Egypt, such as the Chinese language bridge competition and poetry, singing, and story competitions. The cooperation between the Department of Chinese Language, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Suez Canal University and the Chinese side represented by the Chinese embassy resulted in the establishment of the Confucius Institute in order to enrich and spread the Chinese culture all over the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Goals:
- Studying the Chinese civilization as one of the Ancient Near East civilizations.
- Providing the students with the language skills needed to enhance the cultural exchange and enrich the intellectual and cultural outcomes.
- Preparing a graduate who mastered the Chinese language and literature and who is able to compete in the public and private sectors.
- Enhancing the student’s language ability to be able to transfer culture and knowledge from Chinese into Arabic and vice versa through translation.
- Producing scientific and linguistic research to meet the community's needs.
- Building scientific and cultural bridges between the Arab and Chinese cultures and the Ancient East cultures in general.
