The French language department introduces special academic education in the French language and its literature, history, civilization fields, and translation to and from it. This targets to open a window to communicate with nations' cultures and civilizations, and contributes to building a knowledge society. Moreover, the department provides a scientific outcome that is in charge of the knowledge economy, creativity, innovation, and serving the community.
Mission:
The French Language and Literature Program seeks to prepare a graduate who is able to practice the language in order to achieve excellence and leadership in the fields of translation, literature, and scientific research. In addition, it seeks to improve society and meet the needs of the labor market in various fields.
Vision:
It is a sophisticated language with an honorable history. It is the second language used in the world of business and one of the top ten majors chosen around the world. Studying French will not only enable you to understand the European culture, but also it’s the main language in numerous African countries. Therefore, French will enrich your knowledge of different nations with different histories and cultures.
Goals
- Introduces the student to the Francophone culture by learning the French language.
- Provide students with needed language skills to strengthen cultural exchange and enrich intellectual and cultural outcomes.
- Prepare a graduate conversant with The French language and its literature able to compete in the labor market.
- Enhance students' language skills to be able to transfer culture and science from the French language to the Arabic language and vice versa by using the translation method.
- To build scientific and cultural bridges between Arab cultures and Francophone culture.
