The English Language plays an important role in the educational and cultural development of the community and the civilizational communication between nations. Here comes the role of the English language program to study and be familiar with the literature and cultures of the nations that speak The English language, to support cultural, economic, and political amity between nations. Next to the literature course, the student learns translation and all branches of language sciences courses.
Vision:
Currently, English is considered the most important language in the world. It is the language that connects nations. Moreover, it shapes a huge part of the universal culture. Learning English opens the gates for students to learn more about the modern world and its culture. In the Department of English Language and Literature, we are keen on improving the student’s main four skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Therefore, our students will excel at learning this great language.
Mission:
The English Language Program seeks to achieve comprehensive quality and continuous development of the department's performance at scientific, academic, and administrative levels and to be supportive and responsive to social trends and requirements by graduating a generation of English language users who can compete in the labor market.
Goals:
- Provide students with needed language skills to strengthen cultural exchange and enrich intellectual and cultural outcomes.
- Prepare a graduate conversant with The English language and its literature able to compete in the labor in both sector general and private.
- Enhance students' language skills to be able to transfer culture and science from the English language to the Arabic language and vice versa by using the translation method.
- To produce language and scientific research and connect it with the community's needs.
- To build scientific and cultural bridges between Arab cultures and American and European cultures.
